FanDuel Prediction Markets
FanDuel Predicts lets customers trade positions tied to real-world events across sports, culture, financial markets, crypto, commodities and economic indicators. Traders choose an outcome, review the current price and potential payout, then hold the position through settlement or sell early when cash out is available.
FanDuel Predicts is available to eligible U.S. citizens age 18 or older across all 50 states. The markets shown to an individual customer depend on physical location, account eligibility and the contracts currently listed.

FanDuel can display a welcome offer to eligible new Predicts customers. The available promotion, qualifying deposit or trade, eligible states, bonus rules and expiration terms can vary, so the complete offer should be reviewed inside the account before funding or trading.
What Is FanDuel Predicts?
FanDuel Predicts is the app for FanDuel Prediction Markets and gives customers access to event contracts rather than conventional bets placed against a sportsbook.
Each market asks a defined question about a future event. A customer can buy a Yes position when they believe the result will happen or a No position when they believe it won't. Orders are matched through a peer-to-peer market, so the prices change as participants buy and sell, new information becomes available and demand shifts between the listed outcomes.
FanDuel Predicts is part of a joint venture between FanDuel Group and CME Group. Current contracts can be listed through CME Group and Crypto.com derivatives exchanges, while accounts are carried by FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC, a registered futures commission merchant and National Futures Association member. The contracts are regulated under the federal derivatives framework rather than a state sportsbook license.
This structure places FanDuel Predicts within the broader category of Prediction Markets. It doesn't turn every FanDuel product into the same service. FanDuel Fantasy, Sportsbook, Casino, Racing, Faceoff and Predicts can share one recognizable brand while following different rules, age requirements, payment options and state availability.
How FanDuel Predicts Works
The trading process has four main steps, but price, liquidity, settlement rules and timing determine the actual financial result.
Make a Prediction
Explore a market and choose Yes or No based on whether you believe the specified real-world result will happen.
Set Your Amount
Choose the amount to risk and review the current market price, potential payout and transaction fee before submitting the order.
Stay In or Cash Out
Hold the position for settlement or sell before the event ends when cash out is available and another market participant can take it.
Get Paid
A correct position receives the stated payout. An incorrect position loses the original order value, but the loss doesn't exceed the amount committed to that order.
FanDuel Predicts Trade Example
Suppose a Yes position costs $0.40 per contract and you purchase 100 contracts. The order value is $40 before FanDuel's transaction fee. When the event resolves Yes, the position can return $100, producing a $60 gross profit before fees. When the result resolves No, the contracts pay $0 and the $40 order value is lost. The displayed price isn't a guarantee that the event has a 40% chance of occurring. It reflects current market demand and can move as traders respond to news. Selling at $0.62 would return $62 before the applicable cash-out fee, while selling at $0.24 would return $24 and lock in a loss instead of waiting for the final result.
Example Calculation
FanDuel Predicts vs FanDuel Sportsbook
Sports can appear on both products, but a prediction-market contract isn't the same transaction as a state-regulated sportsbook wager.
| Feature | FanDuel Predicts | FanDuel Sportsbook |
|---|---|---|
| Product structure | Peer-to-peer event contracts tied to real-world outcomes | Sports wagers placed under state sports-betting rules |
| Who shapes the price | Participant orders move the market price and displayed return | The sportsbook posts and manages its betting odds and lines |
| Position management | Eligible contracts can be held or sold through cash out | Cash out depends on the wager and the sportsbook's current offer |
| Regulation | Federal derivatives regulation through the CFTC and NFA structure | State or jurisdiction sports-wagering regulation and licensing |
| Available topics | Sports, entertainment, culture, financials, crypto, commodities and economics | Approved professional, college and other sporting events |
| Geographic reach | Available in all 50 states, with available market categories varying | Available only in jurisdictions where FanDuel Sportsbook operates |
FanDuel's own explanation describes prediction markets as peer-to-peer, while sportsbook customers wager against the house. That distinction affects pricing, product regulation and state access. A sports contract inside Predicts can look similar to a sportsbook selection, but it remains a tradable event contract with its own order, fee and settlement terms.
Is FanDuel Available in Your State?

Availability can change and depends on physical location, age, identity verification, account status and product-specific rules. This educational lookup isn't legal advice.
FanDuel Predicts Payouts, Cash Out and Fees
Settlement value, pending payouts, buying power, slippage and the transaction fee all affect what a customer can use or withdraw.
Pending Payouts
Correct settlements are added to the account as pending payouts. They can be used for new predictions immediately and generally become withdrawable after one to two business days.
Cash Out
When offered, cash out sells the position at its current available value. The proceeds move into buying power as pending payouts instead of waiting for final settlement.
Two Percent Fee
FanDuel includes a 2% transaction fee at checkout based on the potential payout. The same 2% fee applies to the payout shown when an eligible position is cashed out early.
Slippage Protection
A larger order can fill across several price points. When the price changes materially during checkout, FanDuel can return the customer to the order screen for confirmation.
Correct and Incorrect Position Payouts
A correct FanDuel Predicts position receives the full published payout after the event is resolved under the market's rules. An incorrect position pays nothing, but the loss doesn't exceed the amount committed to the order. Selling early replaces the final settlement result with the available cash-out value at that moment, less the applicable fee. The position can increase or decrease in value before settlement, and cash out is available only for selected markets when sufficient trading activity exists. Customers should read the market overview, resolution source, deadline and void rules before entering because those terms control how the contract is settled.
Buying Power, Deposits and Account Records
Buying power includes eligible deposited funds and usable returns from prior trades or settlements. FanDuel Predicts currently supports debit card, online banking and Apple Pay deposits, while availability can still depend on location, financial institution and account status. FanDuel doesn't charge a deposit fee, although a bank or payment provider can impose its own charge. Customers should retain records of deposits, withdrawals, orders, cash-outs, fees and settlements so they can reconcile the account and address any applicable tax-reporting obligations with a qualified professional.
FanDuel Predicts Prices, Markets and Combos
FanDuel lets customers change how a market price is displayed without changing the underlying payout, and select sports markets can also support multi-selection combo orders.
American Odds
Displays the price in familiar positive or negative American odds while preserving the same possible contract payout.
Multiplier
Shows the potential return ratio. Lower multipliers generally reflect greater market confidence than higher multipliers.
Cents
Converts the position into a price between $0.01 and $0.99, making the amount paid per contract easier to compare.
Percent
Presents the current price as an implied market probability. It remains a market signal rather than a guaranteed forecast.
What Are FanDuel Predicts Combos?
Combos combine two to six eligible sports selections into one order. Every included selection must be correct for the combo to pay, which can produce a higher possible return while also increasing the number of conditions that must be satisfied. FanDuel doesn't allow multiple selections from the same market, and some market combinations remain ineligible even when each selection can be traded separately.
Markets and Volume
Market categories can include sports, culture, financial indexes, commodities, crypto prices, business questions and economic indicators. FanDuel displays volume as the total trading activity in a market. Higher volume can indicate greater participant interest, but it doesn't guarantee that a customer can sell every position at the preferred price or that the crowd's current expectation will be correct.
FanDuel Fantasy Sports
Daily Fantasy Sports remains central to the FanDuel brand and uses athlete lineups and fantasy scoring rather than tradable event contracts.
Choose a Contest
Select from tournaments, beginner contests, full-roster slates, single-game contests, head-to-head games, 50/50s, multipliers, qualifiers, friends mode, snake drafts and best ball.
Draft a Lineup
Build a new roster within the salary cap and earn fantasy points from the real performances of the athletes selected for the contest.
Follow the Leaderboard
Track the lineup in real time. A customer doesn't always need to finish first because the contest's published prize structure can pay multiple positions.
FanDuel Fantasy Sports and Major Leagues
FanDuel lists fantasy contests for NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, college football, soccer, golf, NASCAR, WNBA, college basketball, tennis and other supported competitions. Each sport follows its own scoring and roster rules, while contest type determines the field size, entry cost, prize structure and whether the lineup covers one game or a larger slate.
Where Paid FanDuel Fantasy Isn't Available
FanDuel's current fantasy availability map excludes paid entry contests while a customer is physically located in Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada or Washington. Free-to-play games can follow different rules. FanDuel Fantasy also isn't FanDuel Predicts because DFS results come from the combined fantasy scoring of a selected lineup rather than the settlement of a Yes or No event contract.
How Predicts Connects to Other FanDuel Products
FanDuel operates several products for different activities. A shared login or brand doesn't remove the separate laws, account terms and eligibility rules that apply to each service.

Sportsbook and Casino appear here to explain the FanDuel ecosystem and the legal lookup. This page centers on FanDuel Predicts and Fantasy Sports rather than marketing the state-regulated sportsbook or casino products.
FanDuel Stock and Flutter Entertainment
FanDuel isn't a separately traded public stock. Its parent, Flutter Entertainment plc, trades on the New York Stock Exchange under FLUT and also uses the FLTR ticker in London. Buying Flutter shares creates an equity position in the parent company, while a FanDuel Predicts order creates a position tied only to the named event. Predicts contracts don't provide ownership, voting rights or a claim on FanDuel earnings. Product growth can still matter to Flutter investors because FanDuel Predicts expands the company's U.S. reach, but that expansion doesn't guarantee a higher share price or future profitability.
FanDuel History and the Launch of Predicts
FanDuel grew from daily fantasy sports into a multi-product company before adding federally regulated prediction-market access.
FanDuel Begins
FanDuel starts by giving sports fans a new daily fantasy experience built around contests, athlete selection and scoring.
FanDuel Group Expands
FanDuel combines with the U.S. operations of Paddy Power Betfair, helping the brand expand into regulated sports wagering.
FanDuel Predicts Launches
FanDuel and CME Group introduce a prediction-market product with event contracts available through a separate app.
Contract Selection Expands
FanDuel adds Crypto.com and OG Prediction Markets contracts, expanding sports, entertainment and combo trading choices.
FanDuel Predicts Trading Hours and Maintenance
Trading hours depend on the contract, and scheduled maintenance can temporarily pause buying, selling and cash out without removing account balances or open positions.
Commodities
Energy and metals markets follow exchange hours, weekday pauses, weekend closures and scheduled full maintenance windows.
Financial Indexes
S&P 500, Nasdaq, Dow, Russell and currency-linked contracts can pause daily and generally close for part of the weekend.
Crypto and Economics
These categories can trade around the clock outside short daily interruptions and full maintenance windows.
Sports
Sports event markets can trade 24/7 outside the listed maintenance periods, subject to individual market deadlines and suspensions.
During full maintenance, the app can show no available markets even though the account remains accessible. Customers can generally view balances and open positions, while buying, selling and cash out are paused. Trading resumes automatically when the maintenance period ends. The Market Overview for an individual contract provides the controlling hours, and the FanDuel Predicts status page should be checked when an unexpected interruption occurs.
How FanDuel Prediction Markets Is Regulated
Federal regulation and customer-protection tools provide structure, but they don't remove the possibility of losing the complete amount committed to an event contract.
Registered FCM
Accounts are carried by FanDuel Prediction Markets LLC, a registered futures commission merchant and NFA member.
Regulated Exchanges
Contracts can be listed through CME Group and Crypto.com derivatives exchanges operating within the CFTC framework.
Consumer Tools
FanDuel provides activity-management and consumer-protection tools, including options intended to help customers trade responsibly.
Loss Limits
A wrong prediction can lose the full order value, but FanDuel states that a customer won't lose more than the amount placed in the order.
New and existing FanDuel customers must complete the Predicts verification process. Federal requirements can include questions about identity, address, trading experience, employment and finances before the account is authorized for deposits and trading. Customers should review the customer agreement, risk disclosures, market rules, price, fee and possible payout before confirming an order. Futures, options on futures and cleared swaps involve significant risk and aren't appropriate for everyone.
Review the FanDuel Predicts Welcome Offer
