Bitcoin Price Prediction for End of 2026 Now Puts $80K Range in Focus
Bitcoin's rapid move from roughly $63,000 to above $80,000 has rewritten the end-of-2026 prediction market. The $80,000 to $84,999.99 range now holds the highest probability in the latest Kalshi snapshot.
For months, Bitcoin hovered around $63,000. The big year-end question was whether it could move into the $65,000 to $69,999.99 range and stay there long enough to settle inside that narrow band. Ten days later, the entire picture looks different.
Bitcoin surged roughly 25% in less than two weeks and traded above $80,000. The rally gained more than 20% during its fastest week, while Bitcoin moved from the low-$60,000 area to about $80,000 before pulling back. It was a fast reminder that the year-end picture can change in days, not months.
On August 18, we explained in our previous article why the $65,000 to $69,999.99 range led the Kalshi market with a 13.7% probability. I liked that range and bought 250 YES shares at 13.9¢. The latest market gives the same range only a 6.4% chance, while $80,000 to $84,999.99 has moved into first place at 11%.

Claim the $25 Kalshi OfferHow Fast Did Bitcoin Rise?
The move becomes clearer when the dates are placed side by side. Bitcoin was trading near $63,000 around the time our previous article was prepared. By August 21, the cryptocurrency had gained more than 20% during the week and reached its highest level since May. Bitcoin moved above $80,000 by August 25, bringing its increase to about 25% in less than two weeks before it pulled back.
The rally didn't erase Bitcoin's volatility. Bitcoin has traded as high as roughly $92,000 and as low as about $57,700 during 2026. That wide span provides important context for a market asking traders to select one exact $5,000 range several months in advance.
What Drove the Bitcoin Rally?
No single headline fully explains a move this large. Several developments changed Bitcoin demand, liquidity expectations, and investor sentiment at nearly the same time.
Bond-Market Stress
Inflation concerns, rising bond yields, and U.S. government debt crossing $40 trillion renewed demand for scarce assets that can't be created or diluted like traditional currency.
Treasury Buybacks
The Treasury's move to increase long-term debt buybacks helped calm bond markets, pushed the dollar lower, and improved expectations for financial liquidity.
Bitcoin ETF Demand
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $606 million in net inflows on August 20, extending the reported inflow streak to four days.
Crypto Policy
President Trump's renewed push for Congress to pass the Clarity Act added to expectations for clearer U.S. crypto rules.
Short Liquidations
Rapid price increases can force traders holding leveraged short positions to close, adding more buying pressure during an already fast market move.
Momentum
Once Bitcoin cleared $70,000 and then $76,000, returning interest and price momentum helped push it toward the major $80,000 level.
Bitcoin benefited from two arguments at once. Government debt and currency concerns supported the case for owning a scarce asset, while lower yields, a weaker dollar, and improved liquidity expectations encouraged demand for risk assets. That combination helped the rally accelerate, but it can also reverse quickly if yields rise again, ETF demand weakens, or traders begin taking profits.
Bitcoin End-of-2026 Market Snapshot
Figures reflect the Kalshi market snapshot supplied on August 29, 2026. Contract prices, probabilities, available quantities, and the displayed estimate can change throughout the day.
The $80K Range Is Now the Leading Outcome
Kalshi's current market shows $80,000 to $84,999.99 at 11%, narrowly ahead of $75,000 to $79,999.99 at 10.6%. The $85,000 to $89,999.99 range follows at 9%, and $70,000 to $74,999.99 sits at 8.4%.
$75,000 to $79,999.99
10.6% in the supplied snapshot, only 0.4 points behind the leader.
$80,000 to $84,999.99
11% and the highest-probability range in the current market.
$85,000 to $89,999.99
9% as traders leave meaningful probability above the leading range.
The lead is small. Just 2.6 points separate the $70,000 to $74,999.99 range from the $80,000 to $84,999.99 leader. That isn't a firm consensus around one final price. It's a broad cluster of probabilities across several nearby outcomes.
The $75,000 to $79,999.99 range may be the most immediate threat to the leader. Bitcoin traded back near $77,600 after briefly moving above $80,000, so a year-end price in the upper $70,000s wouldn't require the rally to collapse. It would only require Bitcoin to hold most of its recent gain without maintaining the full move above $80,000.

YES and NO prices may not total exactly $1 because these are separate live prices in the supplied snapshot. A contract price is an implied market probability, not a guarantee.
Can Bitcoin Reach $100,000 Before the End of 2026?
Bitcoin has already completed the first part of that path by moving above $80,000. From there, reaching $100,000 requires another 25% increase. That would be a major move, but Bitcoin just gained about 25% in less than two weeks, so the distance is no longer difficult to imagine.
The next test is whether Bitcoin can hold the mid-to-upper $70,000s and reclaim $80,000 after the pullback. A sustained move above $80,000 would put $85,000 and $90,000 in focus. From an $80,000 starting point, $92,000 requires a 15% gain, $95,000 requires 18.75%, and $100,000 requires 25%.
That creates a wider upside area between $85,000 and $105,000 if ETF inflows continue, companies add Bitcoin to their treasuries, and institutional demand remains active. Accounting changes that allow businesses to reflect digital-asset holdings at fair value also make the financial effect of owning Bitcoin easier to see in company reports.
A move toward $125,000 would require a much larger 56.25% increase from $80,000. Bitcoin reached an all-time high above $126,000 in late 2025, so that price isn't unprecedented, but returning there before January would require the current rally to extend far beyond the leading Kalshi ranges.
The downside levels matter just as much. Losing $76,000 would put $73,000 to $74,000 back in focus, followed by $70,000 if selling continues. That would quickly increase the year-end chances assigned to the $70,000 and $75,000 ranges, especially if ETF flows turn negative or the dollar strengthens.
How the $80,000 Contract Settles
The $80,000 to $84,999.99 contract resolves YES if the simple average of the sixty seconds of CF Benchmarks' Bitcoin Real-Time Index immediately before 12:00 AM EST is between $80,000.00 and $84,999.99 at 12:00 AM EST on January 1, 2027.
This isn't a market asking whether Bitcoin touches $80,000 at any time during 2026. Bitcoin can trade above $80,000 in August, fall to $70,000 in December, and make the current leading contract settle NO. It can also trade far outside the range for most of the year and return to it at the exact settlement time.
The Exact Range Matters
A settlement value of $79,999.99 is outside the range. A value of $85,000.00 is also outside it. Being close doesn't produce a partial payout.
Kalshi uses the specified CF Benchmarks index rather than whichever Bitcoin price appears on Google, Coinbase, or another exchange at that moment. Readers can learn more about the company, its rules, and its event contracts on our Kalshi Prediction Markets page.
What an $80K Bitcoin Prediction Could Pay
At a displayed YES price of 11¢, every winning contract pays $1 if the final settlement lands between $80,000 and $84,999.99. The examples below use whole contracts and the 11¢ snapshot price. Actual order prices can change before an order fills.
$25 Example
227 contracts cost $24.97. A YES result pays $227, producing $202.03 in profit before any applicable charges.
$50 Example
454 contracts cost $49.94. A YES result pays $454, producing $404.06 in profit before any applicable charges.
$100 Example
909 contracts cost $99.99. A YES result pays $909, producing $809.01 in profit before any applicable charges.
The 1,000-Share Example Shown on Kalshi
The supplied order screen shows 1,000 YES shares at an average price of 11.79¢. The displayed cost is $117.93, the maximum payout is $1,000, and the potential profit is $882.07 if the range settles YES. A separate $1,000 order example shows a maximum payout of $7,366.62 at the displayed order terms.
The possible return is large because the market currently assigns the exact range a low probability. The risk is equally direct. Every YES share can lose its entire purchase price if the settlement value finishes even one cent outside the specified range.
My Bitcoin Position Didn't See This Spike Coming
I was in favor of the $65,000 to $69,999.99 range ten days ago, and I kind of still am. Some of that may be because I already bought 250 YES shares at 13.9¢. That position cost $34.75, and those shares pay $250 if the market settles inside my range.
If the end of the year were tomorrow, I'd be assed out. The current Bitcoin price is nowhere near my range, and the Kalshi market has cut its probability from 13.7% to 6.4%. At 6.4¢ per share, 250 contracts have a market value of about $16, which is $18.75 below what I paid before any sale-related costs.
Kalshi's new market estimate around $82,000 does nothing for my position because my shares only win if Bitcoin finishes between $65,000 and $69,999.99. I've got to admit that I didn't see this huge spike coming. I'm not sure anyone really does, but it happened, and it happened fast.
This is another reminder of how volatile Bitcoin can be. I already knew that, but you can never get enough reminders. This is also a very risky market. Bitcoin can shoot back down just as quickly as it moved higher, and anyone trading these ranges has to anticipate that possibility.
Following the market every day still gives you more perspective than making a wild guess because it feels exciting. Daily price action, market depth, ETF activity, liquidity, economic news, regulation, and other developments can all change the Bitcoin price in a New York minute. Learning how those pieces affect both Bitcoin and the contract prices can make a difference when deciding whether to buy, hold, or sell.
I'm not treating the $82,000 figure as a final answer, and I'm not pretending my $65,000 position is safe. Settlement is still months away. Bitcoin has already shown in 2026 that it can move from below $60,000 to above $90,000, which leaves plenty of room for the leading range to change again.
What Could Move Bitcoin Again?
The current market puts $80,000 to $84,999.99 first, but the 11% probability is far from decisive. Several developments could move both Bitcoin and the contract prices before January 1.
ETF Flows
Repeated inflows can add spot demand, while sustained outflows can remove one of the rally's important sources of support.
Corporate Bitcoin Buying
Additional treasury purchases by public companies can absorb available supply and encourage more businesses to consider holding Bitcoin.
Federal Reserve Policy
Interest-rate expectations, inflation data, and changes in dollar liquidity can quickly alter demand for Bitcoin and other risk assets.
Bond Yields and Debt
More bond-market stress could support the currency-debasement argument, while calmer conditions could reduce that source of buying interest.
U.S. Crypto Rules
Progress or setbacks involving the Clarity Act can change expectations for institutional access and regulatory risk.
Profit-Taking and Liquidity
Bitcoin's sharp rally gives holders an incentive to sell, while lower year-end liquidity can make the price more sensitive to large orders.

View Bitcoin Predictions on KalshiWill Bitcoin Finish 2026 Between $80,000 and $84,999.99?
That's now the leading outcome in the supplied Kalshi snapshot, but its 11% probability shows how uncertain the market remains. The $75,000 range is only 0.4 points behind, while the $70,000 and $85,000 ranges also hold meaningful probability.
The latest rally makes an $80,000 settlement easier to imagine than it was ten days ago. Bitcoin has already crossed that level during the current move. Reaching the range now and finishing inside it on January 1 are still two different events.
The most important lesson from the past ten days isn't that $82,000 must be correct. It's that Bitcoin and its prediction market can reprice very quickly. The $65,000 range led on August 18. The $80,000 range leads now, and another major news event could change the order again.
