Who Will Win the 2026 MLB World Series?

2026 MLB World Series prediction with the Commissioner's Trophy inside a baseball stadium

The 2026 MLB postseason is getting close, and three major prediction markets agree on one thing: the Los Angeles Dodgers are the team to beat. ProphetX, Kalshi, and Polymarket all have Los Angeles clearly ahead of the field as Milwaukee, New York, Tampa Bay, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, and Houston try to prevent a Dodgers three-peat.

There is still more than a month of regular-season baseball left, but the 2026 World Series picture is starting to take shape. The Dodgers are leading the prediction markets, the Brewers own the best record in baseball, and several division leaders are beginning to put real distance between themselves and the teams chasing them.

Los Angeles is priced at 36.23¢ on ProphetX, 33.6¢ on Kalshi, and 33¢ on Polymarket in the market snapshots reviewed for this article. That makes the Dodgers the clear No. 1 choice across all three brands.

The Yankees are second on ProphetX and Polymarket. Kalshi is slightly different, with Milwaukee at 10.2% and New York at 10%, making the Brewers the narrow No. 2 there.

For anyone new to this type of trading, our Prediction Markets page explains how event contracts turn future outcomes such as the World Series champion into prices that move as traders buy and sell.

2026 World Series Prediction Market Snapshot

Consensus Favorite LA Dodgers
ProphetX Dodgers 36.23¢
Kalshi Dodgers 33.5%
Polymarket Dodgers 33%

Prediction-market prices reflect the screenshots reviewed on August 20, 2026. Prices, probabilities, liquidity, spreads, and available quantities can change at any time.

ProphetX, Kalshi, and Polymarket All Favor the Dodgers

This article is a little different from our usual market coverage. Instead of relying on one prediction brand, we compared the 2026 World Series markets on ProphetX, Kalshi, and Polymarket.

ProphetX

Dodgers 36.23¢

New York is second at 13.16¢. The visible market also shows Tampa Bay and Chicago at 11.11¢, Atlanta at 10¢, and Boston at 12.05¢.

Your Prediction

Kalshi

Dodgers 33.5%

Milwaukee is narrowly second at 10.2%, followed by the Yankees at 10%, Tampa Bay at 8.2%, and Atlanta at 6.8%.

Your Prediction

Polymarket

Dodgers 33%

The Yankees are second at 11%, followed by Milwaukee at 10%, Atlanta and Tampa Bay at 7%, and the Cubs at 6%.

Your Prediction

The exact percentages are different because these are separate order books with different traders, liquidity, spreads, and available contracts. The broader message is much more consistent. Los Angeles is comfortably ahead of every other team.

How the Leading World Series Prices Compare

Team ProphetX Yes Kalshi Polymarket
Los Angeles Dodgers 36.23¢ 33.6¢ 33¢
New York Yankees 13.16¢ 10¢ 11¢
Milwaukee Brewers Request 10.9¢ 9.9¢
Tampa Bay Rays 11.11¢ 8.2¢ 7.4¢
Atlanta Braves 10¢ 6.8¢ 7.1¢
Chicago Cubs 11.11¢ 6.4¢ 5.9¢
Boston Red Sox 12.05¢ 5.5¢ 5.1¢
Philadelphia Phillies Request 4.5¢

“Request” indicates that the ProphetX screenshot did not display an immediate Yes market-order price for that team at the time captured. Prices from separate prediction markets should not be expected to match exactly.

The Brewers Have the Best Record in Baseball

The prediction markets favor Los Angeles, but the regular-season standings give Milwaukee a very strong argument.

In the MLB standings snapshot supplied for this article, updated August 20 at 5:32 PM ET, the Brewers are 79-49 with a .617 winning percentage. That is the best record among all 30 clubs.

Milwaukee also owns a five-game lead over the Cubs in the NL Central. FOX Sports notes that the Brewers have been backed by one of baseball's best pitching staffs and recently took three of four games from Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are directly behind them at 77-51. Los Angeles leads the NL West by nine games in the supplied standings and has one of the clearest paths to a high postseason seed.

The addition of Tarik Skubal before the trade deadline adds another major arm to an already dangerous Dodgers roster. It is one of the biggest reasons Los Angeles continues to sit well above the field despite Milwaukee having the better regular-season record.

Readers who want to compare this specific sports market with other markets available through the brand can review our ProphetX Prediction Markets page.

All Six Division Leaders Are Still in the World Series Conversation

Division Leader Record Win % Division Lead
AL East Tampa Bay Rays 76-51 .598 4.5 games
AL Central Chicago White Sox 66-61 .520 3.5 games
AL West Houston Astros 64-63 .504 2 games
NL East Atlanta Braves 75-53 .586 5 games
NL Central Milwaukee Brewers 79-49 .617 5 games
NL West Los Angeles Dodgers 77-51 .602 9 games

Standings reflect the MLB snapshot supplied for this article on August 20, 2026.

The division leaders are an interesting mix. Milwaukee, Los Angeles, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta have separation and records that look like legitimate championship contenders. Chicago and Houston are leading much tighter divisions and may have more pressure down the stretch.

The postseason begins Tuesday, September 29, 2026, with the Wild Card Series. That gives these teams only a little more than a month to finish positioning themselves for October.

The Yankees Are the Main American League Challenger

The Yankees are not leading their own division, but they remain one of the most respected World Series contenders across the markets.

New York is 71-55 in the supplied standings and sits 4.5 games behind Tampa Bay. ProphetX prices the Yankees at 13.16¢, while Polymarket has them at 11%. Kalshi has New York at 10%, only 0.2 percentage points behind Milwaukee.

That consistency matters. Even though the Yankees do not have the best record in the American League, traders across all three prediction markets still see them as one of the teams most capable of surviving October.

Boston also remains in the mix at 68-59, while the Rays have the stronger regular-season position at 76-51.

Anyone comparing current event-contract pricing can also review our Kalshi Prediction Markets page.

The Braves, Cubs, Rays, Red Sox, and Phillies Still Have Real Paths

Atlanta Braves

Atlanta is 75-53 and leads the NL East by five games. The Braves are priced around 7% on both Kalshi and Polymarket and remain one of the strongest teams behind the top three.

Tampa Bay Rays

Tampa Bay leads the AL East at 76-51. The Rays sit at 8.2% on Kalshi and 7% on Polymarket, with ProphetX showing an 11.11¢ Yes price in the supplied screenshot.

Chicago Cubs

The Cubs are 74-54 and only five games behind Milwaukee. Chicago is priced at 6% or less on Kalshi and Polymarket despite owning one of baseball's better records.

Boston Red Sox

Boston is 68-59 and remains positioned for the Wild Card race. ProphetX currently gives the Red Sox one of the higher visible Yes prices outside the top names.

Philadelphia Phillies

Philadelphia is 70-58 and five games behind Atlanta. The Phillies are not among the market favorites, but a postseason rotation can make them dangerous in a short series.

Houston Astros

Houston's 64-63 record is not imposing, but the Astros currently lead the AL West. Their recent championship experience makes them difficult to dismiss if they reach October.

Polymarket Has More Than $39 Million in World Series Volume

The Polymarket market reviewed for this article shows more than $39 million in total volume.

Los Angeles leads at 33%, followed by the Yankees at 11%, Milwaukee at 10%, Atlanta and Tampa Bay at 7%, the Cubs at 6%, Boston at 5%, Philadelphia at 4%, and the White Sox at 3%.

The broader field falls off quickly after that. San Diego is at 3%, Houston and Seattle are at 2%, and Detroit, Texas, Toronto, Cleveland, Arizona, and Minnesota are around 1%.

Kalshi Has More Than $57 Million in Baseball Champion Volume

The Kalshi market snapshot shows more than $57 million in total volume, making it the largest of the three market-volume figures reviewed for this article.

The Dodgers are at 33.5%, followed by Milwaukee at 10.2%, the Yankees at 10%, Tampa Bay at 8.2%, Atlanta at 6.8%, the Cubs at 5.8%, Boston at 5.2%, Philadelphia at 5%, Houston at 3.3%, and the White Sox at 3.2%.

That hierarchy closely resembles Polymarket even though the exact numbers differ. Both markets agree that Los Angeles belongs in a tier by itself.

What a Winning Dodgers Prediction Could Pay

The Dodgers are my pick, so this is the team I used for the payout examples.

The table compares the displayed Los Angeles Yes prices from the three prediction markets. ProphetX is at 36.23¢, Kalshi is at 33.6¢, and Polymarket is at 33¢.

For simplicity, these examples assume each winning contract or share settles at $1. They use whole contracts, exclude fees, and assume every contract can be purchased at the displayed price. Actual order books and fees can change the result.

Profit figures are simplified before fees and assume every contract fills at the displayed price. The lower displayed purchase price produces more contracts for the same investment, but price alone does not determine which market will provide the best actual execution.

A Real 1,000-Contract Kalshi Dodgers Example

The Kalshi order screen supplied for this article shows what a 1,000-contract Los Angeles position looked like at the time of the screenshot.

Average price: 33.6¢

Estimated cost: $351.62

Maximum payout: $1,000

Displayed potential profit: $648.38

The estimated order cost is higher than simply multiplying 1,000 contracts by the headline price because actual market orders can include transaction costs and execution across the available order book. That is why the simplified examples above should be treated as illustrations rather than exact quotes.

Author Opinion

My Pick Is the Dodgers, but October Baseball Is Never Safe

This section reflects Robert Beadle's personal opinion and is separate from the standings, prediction-market data, and source reporting above.

As with any sport, and especially baseball, once you get into the postseason almost anything can happen. A team can be dominant for six months and then run into one hot pitching staff and be gone in a week.

That is part of what makes the World Series so difficult to predict.

At this point, though, there are some teams I just do not see making a serious run. The A's, Royals, Mets, Reds, and Rockies are having rough seasons, and I would be shocked if any of them suddenly became the story of October.

The teams I am paying the most attention to are the Dodgers, Brewers, Braves, Astros, White Sox, and Rays because all six are currently leading their divisions.

Milwaukee deserves a lot more respect than the prediction markets are giving it. The Brewers are 79-49 and have the best record in baseball. If I were choosing strictly from what teams have done during the regular season, Milwaukee would be very difficult to argue against.

But if I have to put my own money on one team, I am taking Los Angeles.

The Dodgers are 77-51, have a comfortable lead in the NL West, are trying to win their third straight World Series, and added Tarik Skubal to a roster that already had championship talent everywhere.

That is a lot to bet against.

ProphetX currently has the Dodgers at 36.23¢ for Yes. That is where I am putting my own pick.

I am not saying 36.23% means Los Angeles is guaranteed anything. It absolutely does not. It still means the market believes there is a much better chance that someone else wins the World Series than the Dodgers.

But when I compare Los Angeles with every individual team, the Dodgers are the one I trust the most.

Of course, I would love to see my Tigers sneak into the Wild Card and somehow go all the way.

Detroit is 61-66 and sits second from the bottom in the AL Central in the standings snapshot, although they are only 1.5 games out of the Wild Card. So the playoff dream is not dead.

Winning the World Series from there would still feel like it would take at least three miracles.

If the Tigers somehow pull it off, I will gladly come back to this article and admit that I should have put the money on Detroit.

Why the Dodgers Are Not an Automatic Pick

Los Angeles may be the clear prediction-market favorite, but there are legitimate reasons to hesitate.

FOX Sports notes that the Dodgers have cooled from their early-season pace, while Milwaukee recently beat them three times in a four-game series.

The Brewers also own the better overall record. Tampa Bay has the best record in the American League. Atlanta is only two wins behind Los Angeles in the supplied standings, and the Yankees remain one of the most respected teams in every futures market reviewed.

Baseball also has more postseason randomness than a long regular season. A bad three-game Wild Card Series or one rough Division Series can erase six months of dominance immediately.

CBS Sports specifically points to pitching, injuries, roster construction, and the randomness of baseball as major factors that can move the futures market and decide whether a contender actually survives October.

Prediction Prices Will Keep Moving Before the Postseason

The regular season is not over, playoff seeding has not been finalized, and injuries or late-season performance can still change the market dramatically.

A team priced at 10% today could be much higher once the bracket is known. A current favorite could also lose key players, fall into a tougher postseason path, or simply run into a team that gets hot at the right time.

The prices in this article are a snapshot of August 20, 2026, not a guarantee of what they will look like when the Wild Card Series begins on September 29.

Who Will Win the 2026 World Series?

The Dodgers are the consensus answer right now.

ProphetX has Los Angeles at 36.23¢. Kalshi gives the Dodgers a 33.5% chance. Polymarket has them at 33%. No other team is particularly close across the three markets.

Milwaukee has the strongest argument based on regular-season performance. The Brewers are 79-49 and have baseball's best record. The Yankees remain the most consistently respected American League challenger, while Tampa Bay has the AL's best record and Atlanta is firmly in the National League championship conversation.

The Cubs, Red Sox, Phillies, White Sox, Astros, Padres, Mariners, and several other teams remain capable of making October complicated.

My money is still going on Los Angeles.

That does not mean the Dodgers are safe. It means that if I have to choose one team out of 30 today, I trust Los Angeles more than any other individual club to be holding the Commissioner's Trophy at the end of October.

Trade Responsibly Sports prediction contracts can lose their full purchase price if the selected outcome does not occur. World Series prices can change quickly because of injuries, standings changes, postseason qualification, seeding, and results. Review the applicable market rules, current price, available liquidity, fees, and settlement criteria before trading, and only use money you can afford to lose.
